Britpop icons Blur have continued the on-going speculation as to whether they’ll record any more material following their London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony gig - by suggesting that they’d like to write a film score.
The band originally reunited in 2009 for a number of gigs - including a headline slot at Glastonbury - and have been putting on a number of shows across the country ever since. As with any reunion, there’s been constant talk about whether the band will be putting out a new album - but, despite the band releasing a handful of stand-alone singles, it looks like the only LP Blur will be working on is a film soundtrack.
Speaking to NME, Blur frontman Damon Albarn said that although the closing ceremony may be their “last gig in the country this year and probably for a long time”, it wouldn’t be the ‘end’ of Blur - and added that “if someone wanted us to do an album for a film I'd definitely be interested in something like that. So that's the offer.”
The comments echo a recent statement made by bassist Alex James, who said: “There's never been a period where more than six months have gone by and [we haven’t] stuck our heads in and had a bish-bash... It's just really, really good fun.”
Blur perform in Wolverhampton tonight, before heading off to Plymouth tomorrow. If you need tickets to any of their shows, check the dates and details below.
