The Monkees To Reform - Complete With Michael Nesmith - For Davy Jones Tribute US Tour

The original line-up of American pop rockers The Monkees are set to reform for a brand new US tour, it has been revealed.

The band toured last year as part of their 45th anniversary celebrations, and enjoyed a brilliant run of shows that worked them so hard they were forced to cancel a few gigs. But, sadly, bandmember Davy Jones passed away at the start of 2012, and it seemed as though yesteryear’s tour would be their last.

But now, they’ll be getting back together for a Davy Jones US tribute tour - and even Mike Nesmith, who hasn’t performed with the band since 1997, will be out on stage with Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork.

“It is a part of my youth that is always active in my thought and part of my overall work as an artist,” Nesmith told Rolling Stone. “It stays in a special place, but like things in the past it fades in and out in relevance to activities that are current.

“Getting together with old friends and acquaintances can be very stimulating and fun and even inspiring to me. We did some good work together and I am always interested in the right time and the right place to reconnect and play.”

The tour will feature many a song from their 1967 album ‘Headquarters’ and will also feature some previously unperformed tracks - meaning the tour is a must-attend for fans in the Americas.
