American sludge metal outfit Baroness were involved in a serious bus crash this morning, whilst travelling between gigs on their UK tour.
The incident, which occurred at about 11:30am this morning (Wednesday 15th August), left all nine people on board injured - two of which were trapped when firefighters arrived on the scene. It has been reported that the coach fell 30ft from a viaduct near Bristol.
All those on board are now being treated in hospital and, at the moment, it’s unknown how serious the injuries are. Police who were called to the scene are still investigating the possible cause of the crash, though it is likely that heavy rain and reduced visibility - which stopped an air ambulance landing nearby - may have led to the incident.
The news has been confirmed by the band’s agents, while their tour promoters have commented: “It is with great regret that we have to inform you that Baroness were involved in a very serious road accident earlier today and will not be able to perform at Talking Heads tonight. Our thoughts are with the band at this time and we wish them and their crew a speedy recovery.”
The band had been performing in Bristol’s Fleece venue the previous night and were making their way to Southampton for a gig at the Talking Heads venue. The gigs were part of their tour in support of ‘Yellow & Green’, the band’s third and most recent album, which hit shelves in July.
