We Are Augustines Unveil Live Video For 'Philadelphia' - Watch Now

Brooklyn’s We Are Augustines have released a live video of 'Philadelphia (The City of Brotherly Love)' this week following successful appearances at both Reading and Leeds Festivals playing in front of packed audiences. The video was recorded at The Neptune in Seattle this year, one of their favourite venues on the gig circuit since they started touring.

The track will be released as a Double A-Side single that also features ‘Book of James’ today, September 3rd, ahead of their UK tour that kicks off in the last week of September and October.

Reminiscing the recording of 'Philadelphia' for debut album ‘Rise Ye Sunken Ships’, bassist Eric Sanderson remembers: “Philadelphia was the first songs we recorded for Rise Ye Sunken Ships. It completely morphed in the studio. We went through about as many drum beats you could think of before we settled on the Motown beat. It was recorded live with only a few overdubs, something we were pushing for at the time. When we started playing live we desired something more from the song and worked out a version with just piano and vocals. That change brought it from the loudest song on the record to the most intimate song in the set. Through all of this transformation we now have two versions of the song to choose from every night. Sometimes we don't even know which one we will play until the moment comes in the set. Having both versions really helps us to stay connected with the audience by morphing the show, keeping in the present.”

This double A-Side will be available digitally on iTunes and other digital stores online from today, September 3rd.
