Labrinth And Jessie Ware Kick-Off MTV Brand New For 2013 Tonight!

Today, MTV Brand New for 2013 kicks off in style with the launch of it's unsigned competition - a nationwide search to add one unsigned artist to the final Brand New for 2013 shortlist which will be announced in November.
To mark the event and to celebrate MTV BRAND NEW's recent partnership with Emporio Armani Diamonds, Labrinth and Jessie Ware are set to perform tonight at Armani’s flagship Bond Street store.
Former MTV Brand New nominee Labrinth smashed his way into public consciousness after being included on the shortlist in 2011 before going on to release smash hit album ‘Electronic Earth’ earlier this year. He has been a widely-regarded highlight of this summer’s festival season.
"It’s great to have MTV with me on my journey and it's a privilege to be asked to come back as an established artist. I'm really looking forward to it. See you there!!" said Labrinth.
With her recently released debut album ‘Devotion’ charting at Number 5 and receiving widespread critical acclaim, Jessie Ware is one of the most talked about artists of the moment and makes her MTV live show debut at the event.
"I'm really looking forward to playing at MTV Brand New as I have watched MTV since I was a kid so to now be on it is wicked”, said Jessie.
The event launches MTV’s Unsigned Competition - a nationwide search to add one unsigned artist to the final Brand New for 2013 shortlist. Now in it’s second year, the competition last year attracted over 2500 entrants and was won by Norwich MC Context, who has since been signed up by Emilie Sande’s management company.
Unsigned artists from around the UK are eligible to enter between 6th and 28th September at www.brandnew.mtv.co.uk. Entrants will then be put to a public vote between 8th October and 12th November before MTV’s editorial music experts pick a winner at the end of November.
MTV Brand New For 2013 will kick off in earnest on 28th November with the announcement of this year’s shortlist and the first of a series of three shows showcasing this year’s nominated artists. After a public vote the overall winner will be announced in January, winning dedicated support across all of MTV’s networks for the rest of 2013.
Now in its 6th year, the MTV Brand New campaign has one of the most successful track records for a new music poll and has been credited for giving a platform to a wealth of now firmly established international artists at the beginning of their musical careers. Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Lana Del Rey have all featured in MTV’s Brand New campaign, as have a host of UK artists including Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Adele, Florence + The Machine and Labrinth, in addition to last year’s Brand New for 2012 winner – one of the UK’s most exciting new talents - Conor Maynard.
