London-based indie-rockers The Vaccines have landed their first #1 album, after their second LP ‘Come of Age’ topped UK charts this weekend.
Two Door Cinema Club’s ‘Beacon’ looked as though it could edge The Vaccine’s sophmore record in the midweeks, but ‘Come of Age’ went onto sell 11,000 more copies, landing it in the #1 spot on Sunday evening. The standings see both bands earning their highest chart position of their careers.
The Vaccines enjoyed a sensational 2011, which saw the release of their debut album ‘What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?’ and a number of award wins, including XFM’s New Music Award. Now, they’re set to hit the road in November to tour their follow-up ‘Come of Age’ - which looks set to be one of the year’s biggest hits.
