Tupac Hologram Company Digital Domain File For Bankruptcy

The company behind the incredible Tupac Shakur hologram at this year’s Coachella Music Festival have filed for bankruptcy, according to reports.
Digital Domain came to international attention after their groundbreaking hologram of hip-hop legend Tupac wowed millions as it performed alongside Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg earlier this year. The first questions on people’s lips following the event was ‘who will be recreated next?’, with fans’ wish-lists and hopefuls flying across the internet. But, it now looks like there won’t be any more holograms any time soon - at least from Digital Domain.
Company bigwigs - including Avatar director James Cameron - have now requested bankruptcy protection and have halted all trading with it’s shares, which are now worth a paltry 34p (a long way off their high of £5.72). The decision comes after the company racked up a reported $215million of debt.
The news may come as a surprise to fans and businessmen alike, as the idea of creating holograms of hugely-loved, deceased musicians and singers seemed a rather lucrative market niche, with their Tupac gig drawing in huge amounts of interest. They had even lined-up Elvis Presley as their next resurrection, but it seems the debt is currently too much - and we may have to wait awhile for this company (or another) to put on anymore similar shows.
