Lianne La Havas Nominated For 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize

At the beginning of 2012 Lianne La Havas was merely a much talked about ‘one-to-watch’; in just nine short months she slotted smoothly into the top of the UK charts whilst becoming something of an international superstar in the process. July 9th 2012 saw the release of Lianne’s debut album ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’, which after mass critical acclaim has been nominated for the 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize – An Album of the Year.
Since that initial compelling appearance on Later with Jools Holland which pricked a nation of ears, Lianne’s trajectory to success has been a little more than notable. Sold-out tours worldwide, nods from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Prince, Bon Iver and Bombay Bicycle Club are just a few highlights of her exceptional year.
Listen to ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ and you will be reminded of other artists whose debut releases had an unforgettably arresting effect when you first heard them. It is no coincidence that Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu were among Lianne’s greatest musical heroes as a teenager, and it is no exaggeration to say that ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’ is an album signalling similar intent.
Coupled with the release of new single ‘Forget’, which is currently on the Radio 1 B-List, Lianne announces a headline October UK tour (which includes a soon to be sold-out Shepherds Bush Empire date), a US tour with John Legend plus a very special one-off support slot for Alicia Keys at London’s The Roundhouse.
