Utopia Music Announce 'Diligence' - By Break, Fields, Mako & Villem - Release Date

Utopia Music, the brain-child of Suffolk drum and bass lover Mako, has announced that it will be releasing brand new single ‘Diligence’ - by Break, Fields, Mako, and Villem - next month.

ImageOut on October 15th, ‘Diligence’ is a complete stomper of a track, and the four-strong production team have constructed something which harnesses and combines the gritty, harsh thunder of the earliest drum and bass with the technical complexity of the fresh tracks we are so frequently being treated with today.

Beginning with an eerie yet serene couple of minutes (it’s one of those long intros), the track lures you into a false sense of security before giving you just 16 bars to come to terms with the onslaught that awaits. Despite the many names who worked on the track, the contributions of each artist is clear - Break’s typical killer stomps and thunderous percussion, and Villem, Fields, and Mako’s - a.k.a longtime production trio Mute & Mako - darker, old school jungle sounds.

The single is backed with a track from Russia’s up and coming drum and bass producer Getz, who is relatively new to the game - something you’d probably never guess if you heard his music. His tune ‘My Soul’ is a steppy-roller with a bassline that is vibrating my eardrums as I type, giving a feeling similar to that of when you’re on a plane beginning to land. One for the subwoofer lovers, it’s a more stripped-back and minimal accompaniment to the audio assault of the flip.

This release is a sign of things to come from both Utopia Music and the newer faces which appear on it - Villem is a name you’ll be hearing a lot from in the coming months, Getz will be getting a lot more exposure, and Mute & Mako will continue to become some of the most respected names in darker, deeper drum and bass.
