Slipknot Confirmed As Download Festival 2013 Headliner

Slipknot have been officially confirmed as the third and final main stage headliner of Download Festival 2013. The announcement rubbishes yesterday's claims that Pearl Jam are to headline the Friday night of the Donington Park festival.

ImageIowa's Slipknot will top the bill on the Friday night (14th August) of Download Festival 2013. They join Iron Maiden (who perform on Saturday 15th August) and Rammstein (who perform on Sunday 16th August) as main stage headliners.

Yesterday, Andy Copping said via his Facebook page: "I'm not sure how many times I need to say this. If you don't read it on here, or the Download website you shouldn't believe anything", in response to the speculation caused by Vodafone who apparently revealed Pearl Jam as a headliner via their Facebook page. The network provider reportedly posted an update to their official Facebook page:

"Vodafone customers can buy their tickets to Download Festival 2013 now, 48 hours before the general sale. Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, & Ramstein fans, hit LIKE & get yours now!".

The post was quickly deleted by administrators of the Vodafone page, however, the news supported a leaked line-up image (see image) that emerged online last week indicating that both Queens Of The Stone Age and Stone Sour were to subheadline the festival.

Slipknot will perform following their explosive set in 2009. Iron Maiden bring their triumphant "Maiden England" tour to Donington Park on the 25th Anniversary of their first headline performance at the legendary home of rock. Rammstein will be giving their first ever Download performance.
