American singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera has claimed that she always puts her musical taste before commercial success, and that she often ‘takes risks’ when it comes to what music she puts out.
Aguilera is one of the world’s best-selling artists ever, and was the second top-selling single artist of the 2000s, finishing behind just Madonna. But, the 31 year-old has now confessed that she is a risk-taker who isn’t afraid to put out something that may not succeed commercially.
Speaking to The Sun, Aguilera said: “I've already put out a greatest hits record, so I've been in this business for a while, and I'm a risk-taker, that's just who I am at heart. "It's who I can't help but be. It's who I always am in nature, as a person and as an artist.”
She continued: “With that comes hurdles and certain areas where people aren't going to get it and understand it artistically; sometimes it will go over their heads and it will not be as commercially successful.”
Aguilera’s latest release, her seventh studio album ‘Lotus’, hits shelves on November 12th. Stay with Stereoboard for any future possible tour news.
