The Foo Fighters have categorically denied that they’ll be breaking-up any time soon, after rumours of an imminent split began circulating after frontman Dave Grohl told the crowd at a gig New York’s Central Park that ‘this is it’.
Many of the 60,000 strong audience at the Global Citizen Festival jumped to conclusions after hearing Grohl tell the crowd that he was unsure when they’d be able to perform again after the gig, saying that they didn’t ‘have any shows after this’.
Just before breaking into ‘Learn to Fly’, Grohl shouted at fans: “Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man. Honestly I don't know when we're gonna do it again…and this is the perfect place to do it.”
Then, after rinsing through some career-spanning classics, Grohl told the crowd: “I don't know when, but we'll see you again.”
Many perceived this as an announcement of a break-up, but a spokesperson for the band has since stated that they ‘definitely won’t be breaking up’. Some believe that a small break may be in order for Grohl to work on a new record with his supergroup Them Crooked Vultues.
