Mumford And Sons Claim US Fastest Selling Record Of 2012

Indie-folk stars Mumford and Sons have beaten the likes of Justin Bieber and One Direction to become the owners of the fastest-selling record of 2012 in the US - a feat they just achieved here in the UK, too.
A tremendous feat for any British band’s sophomore record, Mumford and Sons’ ‘Babel’ has made waves across the entire world, some which is being reflected by their incredible sales and figures.
The album incredibly managed to sell over 600,000 in the first week after its release - which is more than Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’ and One Direction’s ‘Up All Night’, and just 130,000 less than Adele’s ‘21’ sold the week after her win at the Grammys.
The success also marks the first US #1 for the band’s Glassnote Records label, and the best first-week figures for any rock album since AC/DC’s ‘Black Ice’ hit shelves in 2008. And it’s not just it’s physical sales which are helping the band - they also recorded the second highest first-week downloads of all US history, with 420,000 people paying for a digital copy of ‘Babel’.
