Yekaterina Samutsevich, the lone member of the three jailed Pussy Riot girls who has now been freed from jail, has claimed that the band will continue to fight and protest against the Russian government - but will learn to be smarter to avoid arrest
Samutsevich was released from prison yesterday, after an appeal she sent - claiming that she was arrested at the punk protest before even getting her guitar out of its case - was accepted by a Russian court.
But, rather than lay off the musical activism, she has reassured their supporters that they won’t be stopping because of the arrests, and they’ll now be increasing the intelligence behind their planned protests in order to stop them ending up in prison once again.
Speaking in an interview with CNN after leaving the jail, Samutsevich revealed: “We are not finished, nor are we going to end our political protest. The situation in the country has deteriorated since our performance and the trial itself is a testimony to that.”
She continued: “We have to act in such a way so that they (Russian authorities) do not learn about the concerts ahead of time, and be caught and jailed afterwards.”
What do you think of Pussy Riot and their promise to continue to protest - a brave move or a pointless exercise? Let us know in the comments section below.
