Tony Iommi Gives Update On New Black Sabbath Album

Metal icons Black Sabbath, who currently line-up as Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, have been hard at work over at Shangri La Studios in Malibu California, creating their first new album for 34 years.

Working alongside producer Rick Rubin, it was reported earlier this year that guitarist Tony Iommi had 15 songs ready for the new record with 12 selected to feature on the finished album, including a track called 'God Is Dead'.

Speaking to NME, Tony revealed: “It’s taken on the flavor of the old stuff in the way we put things together, but with a different look on it.

Geezer added: “(Rick Rubin) sat us down, put the first album on and said ‘listen to this’. Imagine it’s 1969, you've just done that, what would you do next?”

Black Sabbath had a world tour planned prior to Tony Iommi being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. The sad news forced the band to scrap the plans, however, you may have caught a few of the special performances the band promised fans; Download Festival, Lollapalooza in the States and an intimate gig at Birmingham's O2 Academy.

Original Sabbath drummer Bill Ward still stands firm on his decision to not reunite with his former bandmates. Bill confirmed that he will not partake in the reunion shows or the recording of the new album after disagreeing with the terms and condition stated on the band's new contract.
