Placebo Release New 'B3' EP

After fifteen years, six studio albums, 11 million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success Placebo are back. Their 'B3' EP, their first new music in 3 years, has been released in the UK and is available to buy at iTunes. The lead track 'B3' premièred at radio recently on Steve Lamacq’s show on 6Music.

The 'B3' EP features five brand new tracks and is an eclectic mix of newly written songs and older unreleased album session recordings. The band felt strongly that the fans should get to hear new music in the interim before the new album, their first on Universal Music, is released in 2013, and the music wasn't a reflection in anyway of the direction of the new album. The EP is released digitally and as a Limited Edition physical CD.

Still brimming with new and vibrant ideas – Molko, Olsdal and Forrest returned to the live arena in April having been invited to play an intimate show for Robert Redford’s inaugural Sundance Film Festival at London’s O2. This was followed in June with a series of intimate shows across Europe, in the build up to various headline festival slots including Rock En Seine in France and Sziget Festival, Hungary.

Their last studio album, 'Battle for the Sun', released in 2009, through a network of independent partners worldwide, went to Number 1 in 10 countries and reached Top 5 in 20 countries, and was also Number 1 on the Billboard European Album Charts for a fortnight. Placebo also received the MTV Europe Music Award for ‘Best Alternative’ act in the same year.

Placebo embarked on their 8th worldwide tour campaign in 15 years, to promote the album performing in 44 countries, 143 shows to over 2.5 million people. It began at Angkor Wat, Cambodia, in December 2008, and ended in London, England, September 2010.

That final show in London was filmed and has been beautifully captured on the new Placebo DVD 'We Come In Pieces', released in October 2011.

Placebo will return to the studio later in the year to finish record their seventh album, and will be working with Producer Adam Noble.
