Texture Like Sun Stream Debut EP - Listen Now

Tuesday, 06 November 2012 Written by Catherine Rea

Melbourne six-piece Texture Like Sun released their self-titled EP this month, which was recorded across Darwin and Melbourne’s Bounce County Studios, produced by award winning Pip Norman and mixed by Dan Rejemer who has worked with names such as Bjork, Paul Kelly and Foals.

Although the bands sound is much further away from anything they have ever done before, their determined approach seems effortless throughout each song on the EP. From Texture Like Sun’s first appearance last year with their first single “Bottle”. After a year compromising their next single, Texture Like Sun’s fanbase were excited when their single “One Great Prize” was revealed, adding to the much anticipated debut EP which holds the Australian folk band one to keep an eye on.

The EP sees the band painting their folk roots and styling through accounts of bright as well as fragile times. With a selection of earthy vocals the EP displays expert musicianship and compelling songwriting. Texture Like Sun’s EP shows the raw talent that this new band have to offer, and definitely mirror the talents that each band member host.

Each EP track is a release that is distinctive and haunting, with raw ghostly parallels to names such as Jeff Buckley and Scott Matthews, this band is one to look out for in 2013.
