MTV Brand New Announce 2013 Shortlist With DJ Fresh

MTV’s annual shortlist of the very best in new music will be announced at an exclusive London show at The Forum on 28th November. The gig will be headlined by DJ Fresh and two acts from this year’s list of nominees will also perform.
Throughout the evening, the 10 nominated artists who have made it onto the final Brand New For 2013 shortlist will be revealed, including the winner of MTV’s Unsigned Competition who will take their place alongside the nine artists identified by MTV’s Talent and Music team as most likely to break big in 2013. Public voting for the Unsigned Competition is open now until 12th November over at the website, www.brandnewunsigned.mtv.co.uk.
Emerging from the underground drum and bass scene as part of the formidable production and DJ group Bad Company, DJ Fresh smashed his way into public consciousness in 2011 with his huge number one hit 'Louder'. This year he continued his success, scoring the UK's first ever drum and bass number one record with 'Hot Right Now' featuring Rita Ora, and further hits with 'The Power' (feat Dizzee Rascal) and 'The Feeling'. Having just released his new album 'Nextlevelism', DJ Fresh is one of the most in demand artists in the UK. Fresh Live has taken the UK gig circuit and festival scene by storm with sellout tours and key performances at the likes of Global Gathering, Radio 1's Hackney event, Ibiza Rocks, Parklife, V Festival, iTunes Festival and beyond.
"This is going to be the last Fresh Live show in London this year and will also be the debut of five new tracks. MTV Brand New is an important showcase for new music and I'm looking forward to seeing the artists who are set for big things in 2013.", said DJ Fresh.
In January 2013, MTV will host two further gigs showcasing ‘Brand New’ nominees and big-name headliners which will feature across MTV’s channels in the New Year. Following a public vote the overall winner of MTV Brand New For 2013 will be announced at the beginning of February, winning dedicated support across all of MTV’s networks for the rest of 2013.
With one of the most successful track-records for a new music poll, in the last 5 years MTV Brand New has identified international stars such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Ke$ha before their debut releases whilst also picking up top British music talent Tinie Tempah, Adele, Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Friendly Fires, White Lies, Wretch 32, Labrinth and last year’s winner Conor Maynard at the very start of their recording careers.
