Mick Jagger Defends The Rolling Stones Ticket Prices By Passing Blame To Secondary Market

Mick Jagger - frontman of rock legends The Rolling Stones - has claimed that the secondary ticket market is to blame for his band’s super expensive gig prices, deflecting blame from himself and his other band members.
While thousands of fans were extremely happy to see the band line-up four 50th anniversary gigs, but some haven’t kept their voices quiet about the incredibly high prices of their tickets, which started at £106 and went as high as £406 (including fees) - while VIP packages would have set you back £950...
In retaliation to the anger at ticket prices, the band have now hit back - claiming that they’re so high because the shows are ‘expensive’ to put on, as well as blaming the secondary ticket market for inflating prices (despite tickets selling below face value).
“I don't think there should be a secondary ticket market. I don't think it should be legal,” he told Billboard. “To my mind, there has to be a better way of doing it, but we're living, really, with the way the system functions. We can't, in four shows, change the whole ticketing system. You might say, 'The tickets are too expensive' - well, it's a very expensive show to put on, just to do four shows, because normally you do a hundred shows and you'd have the same expenses.”
He continued: “So, yes, it's expensive. But most of the tickets go for a higher price than we've sold them for, so you can see the market is there. We don't participate in the profit. If a ticket costs 250 quid. let's imagine, and goes for 1,000 quid, I just want to point out that we don't get that difference.”
