Lonesound Unveils 'The Great Outdoors Part 2' EP

London-based singer-songwriter James Ewers - or, as he’s better known, Lonesound - has unveiled brand new EP ‘The Great Outdoors Part 2’, which is set for a December 9th release.

Once frontman of London indie band My Luminaries, Ewers released his first solo EP ‘The Great Outdoors (Part 1)’ in July, picking up attention from various new music online blogs and radio. The home recorded 4 track EP showed a solo artist invigorated by his new-found musical liberation and control, reflected in the scorching yet playful arrangements and the subject matter of the lyrics.

‘The Great Outdoors (Part 2)’ seamlessly continues this theme, yet musically steps up a gear, a result of Ewers playing with a live band since the first release and aided in capturing this new energy by engineer Sam Miller (PJ Harvey, Graham Coxon). The new release will be the second of three EPs, which all contribute to the full length album ‘The Great Outdoors’, to be released in Spring 2013.

Pulsating first track ‘Don't Hold Me Back’ could be the battle cry for the album, showing Ewers in defiant determination. ‘Who Was Watching?’ contrasts from a place of artistic solitude, while ‘Lisa Settled Down’ takes us to a wedding reception, where Ewers is the only guest who hasn't taken a vow. He is joined by singer and composer Leah Kardos for the EP closer ‘Long Gone’, which touches on last year's London riots, seen firsthand in his local area of Hackney.
