Alt-J 'One Step Away From The Dole Queue', Says Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry

Superstar singer Bryan Ferry, frontman of art-rock outfit Roxy Music, has claimed that the success and style of Mercury Music Prize winners Alt-J is ‘fascinating’ - because it’s a ‘celebration of normality’ in comparison to his band’s look back in the 70s.

Speaking to Vice’s Noisey, Ferry claimed that the band are ‘one step away from the dole queue’, and talked about contrast between he and his band - who brought glamour and style to the rock scene many years ago - and Alt-J, who are a working class outfit that have made waves in the music scene in recent months.

“It’s fascinating… because that was the sort of thing we didn’t want to do in 1972,” Ferry told the site. “I guess it’s a celebration of normality… one step from the dole queue.” You can check out the full interview below.

Alt-J have one of the biggest gigs of their career lined-up for this coming May, with more dates possibly set to be announced in the coming weeks.
