15 of the most promising acts in the world have been listed for the BBC Sound of 2013 poll this week - in a list that includes Kodaline and the Palma Violets.
Using tips and suggestions from the some of the country’s leading ‘tastemakers’, a collection of the leading music journalists, magazine chiefs and television/radio presenters and producers, the BBC has compiled the list of acts to be considered for the BBC Sound of 2013 Award.
As you can imagine, it’s an incredibly hard choice to pick an outstanding candidate - but each of the 213 tastemakers gets three choices, and the list has been whittled down to 15 of the best up and coming musicians around.
The competition has been running for the past ten years and has seen winners like Keane, Adele and Ellie Goulding all pick up the accolade and go on to international success. The 15-strong list contains musicians and acts of varying age, genre and nationality, ranging from Californian sisters Haim, to Canadian R&B star The Weeknd.
British acts on the list include singer-songwriter A*M*E, indie outfit Peace, Scottish pop-trio Chvrches, and boy-girl duo AlunaGeorge. You can check out a full list below.
