Stereoboard Looks At The Most Likely And Most Anticipated Tour Announcements Of The Coming Year

With it being the start of a brand new year, we at Stereoboard thought it would be a cool idea to delve into the crystal ball and see what UK tour announcements could be coming our way in 2013.
Last year, we had some incredible announcements and tours from the likes of Robbie Williams, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bon Jovi, Muse, One Direction, Rihanna, Michael Buble, Pink, Justin Bieber, Mumford & Sons and many more.
This year is looking like it could be another bumper year for live music announcements for fans to get excited about, so here we go... This is our list of tour announcements we'd most look forward to hearing about in the next 12 months.
Arctic Monkeys - The now world-famous English indie-rockers haven’t toured the UK since late 2011, when they performed across the country in support of their fourth studio album ‘Suck It and See’. After it was confirmed that they were working on a new record - which they claim will be ’much heavier’ than previous efforts - they lined-up some festival appearances for summer 2013 (including Benicassim), and it seems as though they may be a warm up for an album tour later in the year.
Stereophonics - The Welsh rockers release their long-awaited eighth studio album ‘Graffiti on the Train’ - the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ - on March 4th. They’ve been working on it since early 2011, so we bet they’re itching to play out some of their highly-anticipated new material to their legions of UK-based fans.
Fleetwood Mac - Iconic London act Fleetwood Mac have made it no secret that they’re going to be doing big things this year - and their frontwoman Stevie Nicks even declared that ‘2013 is going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac’. They kick off their world tour in the US in April, and have stated that they’ll be performing at European festivals in the summer, before continuing their world trip. We expect some UK announcements later in the year!
Taylor Swift - The American pop and country star released her latest record ‘Red’ in October 2011, spawning the hit single ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’. She’s lined up a hefty North American tour to support, which will see her performing 60 shows in the US and Canada (alongside Ed Sheeran!) from March to September. She’s got a huge amount of fans over here in the UK, and will hopefully be giving them a chance to see her live this year too.
The Who - After rocking the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony in the summer of 2012, original members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend - alongside archive footage and audio of their late bandmates Keith Moon and John Entwistle - announced the Quadrophenia and More tour, which will see them performing their seminal ‘Quadrophenia’ album (as well as other popular Who tracks) across North America. It would be a big surprise if the tour doesn’t hit the UK at some point, and the North American tour finishes in February - so hopefully we see an announcement this year!
David Bowie - Bowie turned heads across the world earlier this week with the announcement of his first album since 2003’s ‘Reality’ and the unveiling of a brand new single/video in ‘Where We Are Now’. A tour would be his first proper roadtrip in 10 years, and bookies have slashed odds of a 2013 world tour to just 2/1. Even though his producer Tony Visconti say's he has no plans to tour this album, while others close to the superstar say he will, well you just never know with Bowie so watch this space!
AC/DC - The Australian rock legends released their last record ‘Black Ice’ (their first since 2000’s ‘Stiff Upper Lip’) in 2008, and did their rounds taking the album around the world for two years. Now, they’re working on it’s follow-up - and 2013 is their 40th anniversary - and although Malcolm Young has suggested that they may need a bit more time to finish an album, they must have some plans for a celebration of their anniversary. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Bruno Mars - The Hawaiian superstar found fame across the world in 2010 with his debut album ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’, and his second record ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ was one of the most anticipated of last year. It’s first single ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ saw him hit #1 in the US and #2 in the UK, and the album itself vice versa (hitting #1 in the UK and #2 in the US), but he’s still yet to tour the record - so with a full year ahead, we reckon it won’t be long before a Bruno Mars tour announcement is made.
The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones celebrated their 50th anniversaery in expensive style last year, playing two UK gigs and three in the US. Some thought that the shows would be the last of their career, but following their massive success, Jagger has seemed to confirm that there will be more - saying “would be dopey to bring things up to this level and say, 'Well, that's that, 50 years, bye-bye.” It’s also been said that there are already offers on the table, and many predict that they’ll confirm a summer 2013 world tour in the coming weeks.
Adele - The soul superstar took over the world last year with the release of her second album ‘21’, which has gone on to become the UK’s best-selling album of the 21st century, holding the #1 spot in the US for longer than any other album since 1985. Although she’s probably free of the heartbreak which inspired her first two records, she is now working on her third, and we reckon a 2013 announcement is more than likely towards the end of the year.
Take That - The group’s last tour in support of ‘Progress’ was one of the biggest tours this side of the millennium, and grossed over $185 million. Barlow has already confirmed that they’ll be releasing an album next Christmas and revealed Take That will be touring in 2014 - now we’re just waiting for the official announcement - which we can expect in the Autumn.
