'Give BRIT Award To A Deserving Band Who Need The Help', Says The Script's Danny O'Donoghue

The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue has claimed that he hopes his band don’t win a BRIT Award this year - because he’d rather a ‘younger band who need the help’ win it instead.
The band have been nominated for the Best International Group award at this year’s BRITs, but O’Donoghue would apparently rather leave the February 20th ceremony empty handed and see a younger band - which could be Fun, an American indie-rock outfit formed in 2008 that are also up for the award - pick it up instead
Speaking to The Daily Star, the star said: “I was talking to a lot of people when I was on holiday over Christmas and it seems the more awards you get the more complacent you start to become. We've always been pipped at it for whatever reason but it's never stopped us from going on and being successful.
“The stage we're at now - 'Hall of Fame' has gone platinum in America, we're #1 in Germany - I say don't give us the award, give it to someone who is more deserving, a younger band who need the help. We don't need the help. Finally we've got a bit of recognition - but we're rocking and rolling with or without awards.”
