Live Nation Secures London's Olympic Park And Stadium For Future Music Events

One of the world's biggest concert promoters, Live Nation have announced they have secured London's Olympic Park and Stadium for future live music events.

The Live Nation move to the Olympic Park marks the end of a 10-year deal with The Royal Parks. Last year, Live Nation had to deal with a number of complaints from local residents about the noise levels surrounding Hyde Park during events. You may recall Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney being "cut-off" after their show over-ran last summer.

According to Westminster Council, Live Nation took the decision to end the concert "to comply with their licence". Rival promoter AEG Live has now secured a new five-year deal to stage concerts at the park.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson had this to say about the move: "The confidence now shown by one of the world's leading live entertainment promoters to relocate two of its biggest music festivals from the centre of the capital is a ringing endorsement of our legacy plans".

"Along with the other major international sports events we have already secured this latest news proves that the park has a very bright future indeed."

The annual Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling - both of which were previously staged at London's Hyde Park - are the first major events confirmed for the brand new venue.

Wireless and Hard Rock Calling will be held this July. Live Nation have confirmed they plan to announce "some major concerts with world-renowned artists" over the next few weeks.
