Mumford And Sons Confirm Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover Shows

World-beating indie-folk outfit Mumford and Sons have announced the details of this year’s Gentlemen of the Road Stopover shows, and they’ve included a gig in Convent Fields in Lewes for us UK fans.
Last year’s Gentlemen of the Road tour was a great success and saw the band performing alongside a number of acts at all-day outdoor events in Huddersfield, Galway, Portland ME, Bristol VA, Dixon IL, Monterey CA, and Dungog (Australia).
This year they return for a new series of stopover shows, and have stepped up their game to turned them into two-day events, with a nighttime show on the Fridays and all-day entertainment on the Saturday.
The band will hit Convent Fields in Lewes on the 19th and 20th of July, with Vampire Weekend headlining the Friday and Mumford and Sons the Saturday - with The Vaccines, Mystery Jets, Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit and The Very Best Soundsystem all confirmed to support.
Tickets go on sale this Friday (February 8th) at 11am, and will cost you £75.00 + fees (camping tickets are £20.00). You can gra yours using the dates and links provided below.
The band are really excited about the tour - which also includes North American stops in Simcoe (Canada), Troy (Ohio), Guthrie (Oklahoma), and St Augustine (Florida) - and have said in a statement:
“As Pep Guardiola would probably say, keeping possession of the ball is Rules One, Two and Three of football. As Mumford & Sons would definitely say, Rules One, Two and Three of being a band are: Play Live. The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music. We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in buses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud, explore them and enjoy what they have to offer, and then we try to bring a party without leaving too much of a trail of destruction in our wake.
“It's a real privilege that being in Mumford & Sons has allowed us to be able to shine a light on these towns, places that sometimes don't get the love they deserve, and to be the facilitators of great musical coming-togethers. We actually get to put on our own shows. Which means that we get to ask our favourite bands to come and play a show with us, where we just get to watch them play all day. Five times in one summer too. Badass. But there's another rule that applies to both football and music. Doing the Stopovers means that we get to invite a whole bunch of other people to watch these bands with us. And that, the shared experience, is basically all that live music is about.

The band have also lined-up a juicy bill for their North American stops - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros will headline the Friday evening events, with Mumford & Sons headlining the full day shows. Support includes The Vaccines, Old Crow Medicine Show, Hey Rosetta!, fun., Alabama Shakes, Dan Mangan, Willy Mason, Half Moon Run, Those Darlins, and Bear's Den, with more acts to be announced.
