BoomTown Fair Announces Magic Carpets And Mayan Temples For 2013

The ever creative and innovative minds that provide the fascinating and alluring architecture and landscapes that make up BoomTown Fair are unquestionably at it again.

ImageKeeping with the obscure and purely imaginative scene that BoomTown provides, for 2013, the craftsmen behind the showcase piece will be upping the ante at the Lion’s Den, which conventionally is the capital for reggae and skanking through the weekend.

However, for 2013, the Lion’s Den will become a 15m high Mayan Temple, allowing the pyramid-esque building to provide a place of worship for the skankers. This mega-Mayan edifice will now be blasting low bass and slow beats all weekend and until the early hours of the morning.

Beside the new ancient-discovery in BoomTown, the locals will be content, or maybe even disgruntled, and may wish to cause a revolt, or maybe even a petition, as Arcadia Spectacular’s gigantic sound-system spider has trod through the streets and now rests in downtown BoomTown for its new place of residency.

Arguably most impressive for 2013, is the talk of a new 300ft magic carpet ride that will transport revellers and citizens of BoomTown up and down the aptly named ‘hippie highway’, taking fans to parts of the town they may have never seen before. A toll will be enforced for this pleasure, but with the town centre and Mayfair Avenue being uprooted and moved to the top of the hippie highway, this new form of luxury freightage, will allow fans a quicker, more convenient way around the festival, not to mention the awe-inspiring view.

And for anyone who may seem slightly bemused by BoomTown Fair, just to clarify, it is a festival masquerading as one of the most imaginative town’s you will possibly see – surely one of the most bizarre festivals in the UK, if not Europe.

Now in its fifth successive year, it has sold out the grounds near Winchester for the last four years hitting its peak of 28,000 in 2012. Tickets are on sale now for approximately £125 with Richie Spice, Collie Buddz and Parov Stelar leading the musical entertainment throughout the weekend with a plethora of genres including ska, reggae, dub, swing, punk, and all spectrums of root and bass culture.
