Lady Gaga Tour Cancellations May Cost Her Around £16million

Eccentric pop superstar Lady Gaga may lose a staggering £16million because of her North American tour cancellation, which was due to her requiring hip surgery.
The singer injured her hip on the tour, and was forced to cancel a gig in Chicago because of it. After being diagnosed as having a labral tear on her right hip, she was told she needed surgery, but had originally hoped that she’d be able to continue the rest of her tour as planned. But now, sadly for fans, she’s been forced to rest - meaning the remainder of her North American tour won’t be going ahead.
Promoted by Live Nation, the Born This Way Ball tour was one of the most anticipated of recent times, and thousands upon thousands of fans had snapped up tickets. But now, thanks the the cancellation, Gaga has reportedly lost out on around £16million - and Live Nation have got a lot of refunds to take care of.
Live Nation chairman Arthur Fogel has commented on the cancellations, telling Billboard they were “a tremendous disappointment for her, for her fans, for all of the people in the touring party— the crew, the staff, the band, the performers, the dancers— and for my team.”
He continued on to say the cancellations were an example of when “the entertainment business intersects with the realities of life, and the glamorous perception of what touring is like is replaced by the reality that it’s tough. It’s tough for anybody, but [for] the more physical performer—and she certainly is one—it’s that much tougher. I feel terrible for her; it’s a difficult situation. But it’s just one of those things that can’t be controlled, and we just deal with what we have to deal with.”
