Foals Reach Highest Ever Chart Position After 'Holy Fire' Hits #2

English rockers Foals have reached their highest chart position ever this week, after their third album ‘Holy Fire’ hit #2 on Sunday.

The band hit #3 with their debut album ‘Antidotes’ in 2008, and had hoped to reach even higher with their sophomore effort ‘Total Life Forever’ - only for it to peak at #8. But now, they’ve reached their highest-ever position at #2 - and the band were just 1,000 sales behind the top spot.

In just six years Foals have grown from playing 'techno on guitars' in sweaty house parties, to one of the most sought after live acts in the UK. Known for their incendiary live shows, they embark on a sold out national tour and two Royal Albert Hall shows in preparation for their European and USA tours.

Since December the band have released two new singles; ‘Inhaler’, their electrifying, comeback track - an epic, blistering, shamanistic purging of the soul - and the more recent ‘My Number’, arguably their most powerful and immediate track to date, somewhat inspired by Mayfield era disco.

The next single will be ‘Late Night’, which has an impact date of April 22nd. ‘Late Night’, like ‘Spanish Sahara’ on the last record, is a stark, fragile, stripped back song that’ll make your hairs stand on end. On the lyrics, frontman Yannis Philippakis says: “Some of that is to do with my grandmother, and to do with ageing, and being on the verge of passing over into something else, and having remorse and guilt.” Catholic guilt? “Byzantine guilt… bloodlines, and disappointment, and the unwinding of genes.”
