James Blake 'Doesn't Care' If Fans Download New Album For Free

English singer-songwriter James Blake has reasoned with those who pirate and share music illegally - even claiming that he doesn’t ‘care’ if people download his new album for free.

His sophomore album ‘Overgrown’ hits shelves today, and Blake is expecting a load of his fans to get the album - but he doesn’t think they’ll be paying for it. Speaking to The Guardian, he’s opened up about music piracy - confessing that it’s a no-brainer to get the record for free.

“Why wouldn't you [download ‘Overgrown’ for free]?” Blake admitted. “My label (Universal) is hoping that on 8th April you'll do the right thing and click the 'Buy' button. You should see what they're doing online just to get people to look at the 'Buy' button. I'm starting not to care, to be honest.”

He continued: “Things are changing. The ship (music industry) isn't just going down. There are people trapped inside, bashing on the windows trying to get out.”

Whether you’ll be paying for the record or downloading it, you’ll still be happy to hear that Blake’ mini-tour of the UK kicks off in London tomorrow. Check the dates and links below to find tickets through Stereoboard.
