Tom Meighan, frontman of English rockers Kasabian, has given fans a tease of what they can expect on their forthcoming new album - ‘really heavy drums’ and an ‘electrocuted’ sound!
Despite releasing their last album - the chart-topping ‘Velociraptor!’ - in 2011, the band began work on it’s follow-up as early as May last year, and now the record seems to be shaping up. Speaking to MTV about it, Meighan has revealed that fans are in for a heavier and more electronic sound.
“It's like The Prodigy's dirty remix thing,” he told the site. “It's cool and it's got really heavy drums - it sounds electrocuted.”
If they’re comparing themselves to The Prodigy, they must be extremely confident in the record, as they’ll have a lot to live up to. They’ll also be hoping to beat the likes of Coldplay’s ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’, which recently topped the BBC Radio 2 Listeners Favourite Album poll - though Meighan believes the result is ‘ridiculous!’
“They [Coldplay] would say that's ridiculous and even I would say that. I'm not gonna start wars with Coldplay, I can't be bothered. I've met Chris Martin and he's cool, but they know and I know [the poll is ridiculous].”
You’ll have to stay with Stereoboard for future updates on the album, as nothing official has been confirmed yet. Are you excited for a new Kasabian record? Let us know in the comment box below.
