ArcTanGent To Play Host To A ‘Day Of Damnation’

Friday, 12 April 2013 Written by Ben Bland

You can imagine the warmth in our hearts this morning as two of our favourite festivals, new Bristol based 2000trees sister event ArcTanGent and Leeds’ famous metal behemoth Damnation, announced a collaboration to take place at the former this summer. Friday 30th August will see ArcTanGent play host to a Damnation curated stage featuring eight of the country’s best heavy artists.

ImageEarthtone9 will headline the stage, which should be no surprise considering the the festival’s name, whilst the supporting bill will feature some of the most extreme experimental acts in the country. Dragged into Sunlight will terrify any lurking hipsters with their maniacal droned out sludgegrind. Bossk and Devil Sold His Soul will mix up ambience with pure post-metal heaviness. Winterfylleth, who are continuing to cement their status as the UK’s premier black metallers, will also be performing alongside Stereoboard faves Humanfly, Manatees and cosmic stoners Astrohenge.

Damnation organiser Gavin McInally said of the collaboration, “ArcTanGent is already shaping up to be one of the best weekends of the summer and we're delighted to host a Day of Damnation at its inaugural event - handpicking eight acts who have previously graced our stages and left carnage in their wake. Although Damnation is predominantly a metal festival, we do venture into the world of post-rock, progressive and experimental music too so there is a natural crossover with ArcTanGent”. Meanwhile ArcTanGent’s James Scarlett added “ArcTanGent is all about giving festival goers something a bit different and pushing more leftfield, experimental music, so this announcement with Damnation fits perfectly with our ethos but brings a new, heavier edge. Bring on the summer!”

ArcTanGent takes plays at Fernhill Farm, near Bristol, from the 29th to 31st August. Tickets are available now from £59. Visit www.arctangent.co.uk for more information.
