Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne Admits Drug And Alcohol Relapse

Tuesday, 16 April 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Ozzy Osbourne revealed some surprising news last night, confessing that he has been "drinking and taking drugs" over the last 18 months. The reformed heavy metal icon, who had famously turned completely sober following years of drug and alcohol abuse, revealed the news in a Facebook message following rumours that he had split with his wife Sharon.

Posting an open letter to fans via Facebook, Ozzy also states that he is committed to beating the relapse and explains he has been sober for the past 44 days. The Prince of Darkness also announces that he is not divorcing Sharon, while admitting to being “an a–hole to the people I love most, my family.” He also apologised to his family, friends, Black Sabbath bandmates and fans for his “insane behaviour.”

Ozzy’s full letter reads as follows:

'For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an a–hole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.

Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I’m just trying to be a better person.

I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period………and my fans.

God Bless,

Ozzy'
