Camden Crawl Dublin Unveils Full Comedy Line-Up And Individual Venue Line-Ups And Late Additions

Thursday, 18 April 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Camden Crawl Dublin pops its comedy cherry at The Bankers (Dame Lane) and The Swan (Aungier St) this year with four fantastic shows at each venue commencing 7:00 and 9:00pm on Sunday 5th May.

Hosted by Bankers Comedy Club, the first show at The Bankers features a top comedy line up showcasing  four of Ireland’s rising stars including Chortle Student Comedy Awards nominee Colm Tyrell, regular Des Bishop support Christiane O’Mahoney and Marcus O’Laoire fresh from the Jim Jeffries comedy tour, with “Mr Comedy Smackdown” himself Chris Kent  closing the early set.  The 9pm gig turns the volume right up with the outrageous headliner Niamh Marron (finalist Funny Women 2012) supported by the comedy genius of Tom ‘The Bear’ O’Mahoney (Republic of Telly), the flamboyant Al Porter, and the intelligent one, Darren Maher. Both sets are hosted by resident MC Peter O’Byrne.

Danny Dowling (TV3’s Come Dine With Me) brings the late night hit of the Galway Comedy Festival BOOM! Live Comedy For Dead People to The Swan for a one off outing. Boom! features a fresh mix of Ireland's comedic talent. With dark comedy to match his dark hair, six foot 3 Kerry man Ronan Gracelaunches the early show of the event followed by Giles Brody and Colin Chadwick’s sketch about a two part life in a one part world. Alison Spittle takes time out of her busy Republic of Telly schedule to explain about death and hair balls whilst Tommie James lets his beautifully crafted stories roll into misleading punchlines.  Rounding up the mix for Boom! is a cornucopia of one liners from Trevor Browne. All is held together by MC Danny Dowling and mixed up with big tunes and good times.

At 9pm  ‘Uncurable Laughter’ sweeps over The Swan showcasing the best in established and undiscovered Irish talent. A regular on Dublin’s comedy circuit and creator of ComedyDoctors.ie, MC Greg Marks presents the Swan’s late night set. Laughter Lounge regular, star of the Love/Hate series and former boxer, Padser Murray proves why he is one of Dublin’s best one’s to watch. Holding up the midfield is the country’s busiest improviser and Edinburgh record holder, Gary Lynch. Tommy Nicholson, godfather of the Irish comedy circuit and highly sought after headliner, joins the ‘Laughter’ to close the night.

Unlimited entrance to all comedy shows admitted upon presentation of Meteor Camden Crawl festival wristband.

On top of all this exciting news, the final instalment of the Crawl line Mix Tape trilogy, in conjunction with 7Digital, is available from 18th April for FREE download from 7dital.com/camdencrawl alongside its predecessors. This mammoth mix is bursting with acts from all stages and venues. Mix Tape #3 features 20 tracks contributed from artists performing at the festival this year, including: Croupier, Daithi, The Pictish Trail, Mossy Nolan  and many more.

With only two weeks until the festival opens its doors, organiser can unveil the full individual venues and the hosts who picked them. Late additions to the full line up include Manchester’s Josephine who brings the ambitious gospel tinged folk and afro pop from her highly acclaimed debut album to Dublin Unitarian Church on Saturday. Tipped newcomer Leanne Harte and Crawl veterans I’m Your Vinyl also join the bill. On the opposite end of the sonic spectrum Leeds’ finest punk band, Eagulls, join the party Upstairs at Whelans for a must-see live experience. Full timetables available from 19th April by liking the festival Facebook page, facebook.com/camdencrawldublin.
