Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has revealed how Elton John found a place on the band’s new album - becoming the only ‘actual queen’ in the line-up!
The singer and pianist is one of the album’s many collaborators, but it’s now been revealed that the high-profile addition came after Sir Elton approached Homme, rather than the other way around - with John telling the frontman that the only thing missing from his band was an ‘actual queen’!
“[Elton] was in a car listening to Them Crooked Vultures and his assistant said, 'you need to hear Queens'. The guy driving the car was an old room-mate of mine! So all of a sudden I get a phone call at my house on a Sunday. I picked up and he said: ‘Hello Josh, this is Elton’. I thought someone was messing with me. He said, ‘The only thing missing from your band is an actual queen!’ I said, Honey, you have no idea.”
The story follows the band’s recent unveiling of an album teaser video, which sees one of the band’s tracks being cut to vinyl - while a previously unheard tune plays in the background. You can check out that video below.
