One Direction Named As Britain's Wealthiest Boyband

Monday, 22 April 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

X Factor group One Direction are currently Britain’s wealthiest boyband, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

The paper published the rich lists yesterday, and it appears that Harry Styles and co. have amassed a fortune worth £25million between them - just pipping JLS and their hefty balance of £24million.

The Rich List, which is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary, also revealed that Adele has (unsurprisingly) topped the 2013 Young Music Rich list, which lists musicians under 30. She may be under 30, but Adele has managed to amass a fortune of just over £30million, putting her ahead of Cheryl Cole and Leona Lewis.

Sir Paul McCartney, star of the Beatles, has topped the official Rich List yet again this year - a feat he’s managed every year since the list began back in 1989. He’s got a tidy £680million in the bank - £600million more than he had when the list was first published.

You can check out the official Britain and Ireland Musician Rich List below.

1 - Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell - £680 million
2 - Andrew Lloyd Webber - £620 million
3 - U2 - £520 million
4 - Sir Elton John - £240 million

7 - Michael Flatley - £191 million
8 - Keith Richards - £185 million
