Girls In Hawaii Announce Great Escape Festival Appearance And New EP 'Misses'

Tuesday, 23 April 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Belgian sextet, Girls In Hawaii, have announced details of two shows at this year's Great Escape festival in Brighton. This will be the band's first time at The Great Escape and they're set to mark this with the release of their new EP, 'Misses', on 13th May 2013 via French label, Naive.

'Misses' EP tracklisting is as follows:

Misses (Original)
Misses (Cupp Cave Remix)
Dirty Sands
Words are in the wood

Drawing comparisons to the likes of Grandaddy and dEUS for their delicate and dreamy electronic indie, the gently meandering 'Misses' marks the start of an exciting new chapter in Girls in Hawaii’s history.

You can catch Girls In Hawaii on the following dates at The Great Escape Festival:

Saturday 18th May - The Queens, King’s Road, Brighton: 2:30pm (French Music Office Party)
Saturday 18th May - Brighthelm, North Road, Brighton: 10:30pm

Having released two albums ('From Here To There' in 2003 and 'Plan Your Escape' in 2008) Girls In Hawaii took a break in 2010 after an unexpected tragedy hit the group. Following a couple of years silence the band made their live comeback in 2012 at Belgium's Deep in the Woods festival. Happy with their live reunion, the band then decided to try recording together again and headed to the outskirts of Paris where they recorded a new album in three sessions. Produced by the Grammy Award winning Tchad Blake (The Black Keys), this new album will be released later in 2013.

Following The Great Escape, Girls In Hawaii will play a number of festivals throughout Europe this summer, including Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and Pukkelpop in Belgium.
