Late Kris Kross Star Chris Kelly Allegedly Took Speedball - Cocaine & Heroin - Hours Before Death

Friday, 03 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Late rap star Chris Kelly, one half of world famous hip-hop duo Kris Kross, reportedly took both heroin and cocaine prior to his death on Wednesday night.

We reported yesterday that Kelly, who found major success with Kris Kross track ‘Jump’ in 1992, had sadly been found unresponsive at his home in Atlanta. After being rushed to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead at 5pm, age 34.

Kelly’s official cause of death is still unknown as an official autopsy has not yet been made, but it’s believed drugs played a major part - with Fulton County police corporal Kay Lester saying that ‘it appears it may have been a possible drug overdose’.

Now, TMZ have revealed that a police report taken from the incident indicates that Kelly’s mother - Donna Kelly Pratt - had told officers that her son had taken a combination of heroin and cocaine, aka a speedball.

Donna also revealed that he’d been feeling nauseous all morning, causing her to drive her son home - something she has done many a time in the past. She also told police that he had an ‘extensive history of drug use’.

Interestingly, Kelly had a phoner interview with Atlanta radio show The Streetz Morning Grind earlier in the day - in which he sounded worse for wear, and talked about his hardcore partying. Hours later, he had passed out - and later died at hospital.

TMZ have a recording of the interview - you can check it out embedded below. What do you think of the news? Let us know in the comment section below. Stick with us for more updates on the story - we’ll let you know when/if an official cause of death is published.
