The Proclaimers Announce New Single ’Not Cynical’ & UK Tour Dates

Thursday, 23 May 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Following the first play this morning of their new single ‘Not Cynical’ on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 show, The Proclaimers have announced the release of 'The Very Best Of The Proclaimers'.

'The Very Best Of 1987 - 2012' features tracks from each of their nine studio albums: 'This Is The Story' (1987), 'Sunshine On Leith' (1988), 'Hit The Highway' (1994), 'Persevere' (2001), 'Born Innocent (2003)', 'Restless Soul' (2005), 'Life With You' (2007), 'Notes & Rhymes' (2009) and 'Like Comedy' (2012). Includes the hits ‘Letter From America’, ‘King of the Road’ and their classic hit ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). Plus brand new track 'Not Cynical', previously unreleased and exclusive to this compilation, and sleevenotes by actor and Proclaimers fan David Tennant.

lt's 26 years since The Proclaimers released their first album 'This is the Story'. Strikingly individual, twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid have over the years enjoyed huge successes across the globe and follow last year’s ninth studio album 'Like Comedy' (Cooking Vinyl) with a 30-track ‘The Very Best Of 1987 - 2012’ release this summer.

2013 also sees the movie version of the hugely successful award winning theatrical musical drama 'Sunshine On Leith', featuring songs by The Proclaimers. The screenplay was written by Stephen Greenhorn, directed by Dexter Fletcher, and stars Peter Mullen and Jane Horrocks. The drama follows the highs and lows of two soldiers returning home from Afghanistan. Families, relationships and life in Leith are not plain sailing in this exceptional love story about everyday life in Scotland.
