Legendary ‘Madchester’ band Happy Mondays have announced plans for a winter UK tour, following their already confirmed special London Forum performance celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their first album.
Happy Mondays announced their live return last year, reuniting the original lineup for the first time in over 19 years. Following a media frenzy and a huge rush for tickets, the Mondays sold-out two nights in May at Brixton Academy and performed a two-night residency at Camden’s Roundhouse.
In 1985 Happy Mondays fused a sound that owed as much to northern soul and funk as it did rock and psychedelia. The 1990 album ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches’ collided with the acid house and rave movement that had swept the UK, firmly putting Happy Mondays on the map as one of the most inspiring bands to come out of England at the time.
Fans can expect to hear classic cuts such as ‘Step On’, ‘Kinky Afro’, ‘Hallelujah’ and of course the track mirrored by a film of the same name ‘Twenty-Four Hour Party People'.
