Kreator And Overkill To Co-Headline Hammerfest 6 With Soilwork, Unleashed, Grand Magus & More

Wednesday, 05 June 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

German thrash metal legends Kreator are set to co-headline next year’s Hammerfest and head the cast of the first round of announcements for next spring’s bill.

Kreator released their 13th studio album last year, titled ‘Phantom Antichrist’ on Nuclear Blast Records. Festival promoter John Davis says:

"Following last year’s event, which included both Sodom and Destruction, we were really keen to have Germany’s other leading thrash metal act play at Hammerfest. We are glad to be able to announce Kreator's inclusion in this year’s bill. Last year’s event was considered by many to be our best yet. Thriving in its new location Hafan y Mor Park, North Wales, we aim to raise the bar higher still."

Also celebrating all things Thrash, Hammerfest is pleased to announce US Thrash gods Overkill. The seminal thrash metal veterans fronted by Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth similarly bring their up-tempo fiery brand of thrash to next Spring’s event and will head the Friday night line-up.

Next joining the Hammerfest party are two Swedish Death Metal favourites. Firstly, the more melodic and majorly revered Soilwork who coincidentally are also signed to Nuclear Blast Records, honour us with their presence and join the Friday nights billing.

Secondly, Swedish Death Metallers Unleashed, who released their 11th album ‘Odalheim’ last year to great critical acclaim, bring their unique and heavy brand of Viking metal to Hammerfest and in keeping with the above acts are also signed to Nuclear Blast Records.

Also joining the Hammerfest 2014 bill are Swedish Metal act Grand Magus, Belgium Black Metallers Enthroned, speed/power metal veterans Paragon (who play the UK for the first time following a 23 year career in Germany), Nottingham Alternative Metal act Earthtone 9, Gibraltar’s finest flamenco metallers Breed 77 plus Annihilated and Gravil. If that’s not enough to get you excited, organisers will also be announcing more acts imminently so check back to Stereoboard for details.

Hammerfest takes place at Haven Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli,  Gwynedd, North Wales. Head over to hammerfest.co.uk for further details.
