Emeli Sande, Jessie J & Ed Sheeran Among Names Lined Up For Stephen Lawrence Tribute Concert

The line-up for the Stephen Lawrence concert later this year has been revealed - and it’ll see the likes of Emeli Sande and Jessie J performing.
Dubbed ‘Unity: A Concert for Stephen Lawrence’, the concert will mark the 20th anniversary of the tragic murder of Stephen Lawrence, an 18-year-old from London who was stabbed to death in a racist attack in 1993.
Taking place on September 29 at the O2 Arena in London, it also aims to champion young people, and all the proceeds and profits raised from it will go towards the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust (SLCT), which was set up by Stephen’s mother Doreen.
An list of British performers have lined up to perform at the concert, and it’s sure to attract a lot of supporters - for both the positive message it sends out, and the brilliant bill of musicians, bands, and singers who are set to appear.
Announced a short while ago, the concert will see the likes of Sande, Ed Sheeran, Jamie Cullum, Jessie J, Labrinth, Rizzle Kicks, Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Rudimental, and even classic R&B/soul group Soul II Soul, famous for their track ‘Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)’.
Speaking of the concert, Stephen’s mother Doreen has said:
“Justice for Stephen is about all of us, every one of us, in society having justice. I want young people to feel inspired, be confident and have hope in their own future. We work every day to empower youth and we're so proud that the music industry is joining us in reaching out to change the lives of young people.”
She continued:
“I would like Stephen to be remembered as a young man who had a future. He was well loved, and had he been given the chance to survive maybe he would have been the one to bridge the gap between black and white because he didn't distinguish between black or white. He saw people as people.”
