Newsted Make New Track 'Heroic Dose' Available As Free Download

Wednesday, 26 June 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Heroic Dose, a song from Newsted's forthcoming debut album, ‘Heavy Metal Music’, is available now for free download. Visit the band’s official website newstedheavymetal.com to download the track today.

Newsted – the band put together by Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and six-time Grammy winner, Jason Newsted – will have ‘Heavy Metal Music’ (produced by Jason himself) released on August 5 via Spinefarm Records in the UK.

Building on the teaser EP ‘Metal’ (which debuted at Number 1 on the US iTunes Metal Chart), Newsted’s debut full-length assault, 'Heavy Metal Music', is likewise short on pretense and long on crushing riffs. From the throwback Sabbathian strut of Ampossible, through the breakneck gallop of Long Time Dead and onto the measured assault of Above All, this 11-song album will cement the band’s place as one of metal’s strongest outfits.

Staind guitarist Mike Mushok now joins an already impressive fold, with Jason (bass, lead vocals & occasional guitar) flanked by guitarist Jessie Farnsworth & drummer Jesus Mendez Jr.

Newsted is currently in the throes of an extensive European summer festival tour which saw the band visit the UK for a performance at Download Festival earlier this month, as well as a sold-out London show at the historic 100 Club.

A string of UK dates is being planned for later this year.
