Technimatic Line-Up Debut SGN:LTD EP 'Intersection'

Wednesday, 26 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

The formation of Technimatic was an inevitable one; together, the pair (formerly Technicolour and Komatic) have created a unique and unmistakable brand of liquid drum and bass - a brand that this summer is more than ready for. The sun may be kind of out a little bit, and us Brits take any chance we get to get the shorts, beers, smokes and tunes out to enjoy those few summery moments we’re blessed with once or twice a year.

Having signed to Shogun Audio’s brilliant SGN:LTD offshoot, and carried on crafting those cool and charming beats in the studio, they’ve now lined-up what will be their debut EP for the label ‘Intersection’, due out on Monday July 8. Featuring four of the finest and freshest tracks you’ll hear this June, July or August, it’s a collection that’ll please the beach ladies as much as the hardcore locked-in-the-bassment producers.

Smartly starting with uplifting number ‘The Evening Loop’, it immediately introduces you to Technimatic’s basic principles; luscious vocal samples and soaring synths combined with rolling amens and percussion - it’s no wonder they receive so much support from liquid legends like LTJ Bukem. Followed-up by the EP’s moody title track, you’ll find yourself drawn in (if you haven’t already), and the vocal (‘you are mine’) ringing true.

Despite being the perfect sunny-weather music, we can’t forget the fact that British summer is notoriously cold at times, and the crisp ‘Frozen Leaves’ is a subtle reminder. It’s cool LFO bassline is met with EP’s final track (and my personal favourite) ‘Sphere’, a cool, bass-heavy roller that would go off at a festival, in a club, or in a sun-lounger - I’ve been rinsing that one since it landed in my inbox.

You can check out previews of three of the EPs tracks below - as mentioned, the EP hits shelves on July 8. If you like it, buy it and support the artist. Click here for the iTunes pre-order!
