Michael Eavis Already Has Glastonbury 2014 Headliners Booked

Monday, 01 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis says he has already booked his headliners for 2014, amid his near-annual claims that this year’s event has been the best in history.

Speaking during his Sunday morning press conference, Eavis talked about everything from Prince Harry attending the festival, to the Rolling Stones and their huge mechanical phoenix, to what he’s got in store for 2014, and it looks like another bunch of classic rockers will be hitting the Pyramid stage next year.

Confirming he had next year’s three headliners booked, he told the conference:

“[Picking headliners is difficult because] there aren't many left... There were maybe a dozen headliner potentials so we’re running out of headliners but we've got the last three for next year.”

Asked if any of the headliners were in the same league as the Rolling Stones, he replied:

“Ever so slightly, yeah!”

He also confirmed that he managed to convince Prince Harry - who hit the Saturday of the festival - to stay up all night, saying:

“I recommended that he should go through the night, because the nightlife is really what Glastonbury is all about. At three in the afternoon, you won’t get it, will you? So I told him to get his taxi driver to come back at five in the morning and, you know what, he lasted until four in the morning, so he saw all the best stuff.

“He had lots of mates with him and they were all having a good time I think. He didn’t want to make a formal thing of being here or anything. I didn’t have a drink with him because I don’t drink during the festival.”

So, there you have it, the festival’s so good it even attracts the royals. And even though he reckons 2013 was the best so far (he said "I say this every year, I know it’s really, really boring but it’s actually true – it really is the best festival we’ve done, without a shadow of a doubt."), 2014 is shaping up to be an epic event already. Who do you reckon he’s got lined-up for next year? Leave us a comment with your guesses in the box underneath!
