50 Cent Cancels Birmingham Argos Appearance Following Domestic Abuse Arrest

American rap star 50 Cent has cancelled a public appearance at an Argos store in Birmingham, following his arrest last month.
The 38-year-old was set to appear in order to promote his latest brand of headphones, Street by 50, but following his arrest the event has been cancelled, with officials citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’ according to reports in the Birmingham Mail.
Fiddy was arrested after he allegedly got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend at her house in Los Angeles. When things got out of hand, it is reported that he kicked open her bedroom door before assaulting her and trashing the place, breaking her television and furniture and throwing her clothes everywhere.
The attack - which also saw chandeliers damaged - is said to have caused $7100 (£4700) worth of damage, but should he be found guilty, he’ll be looking at paying much higher fees - he’ll potentially have to fork out $46,000 (£30,000), and could spend up to five years in prison.
However, the star is denying the charges, and a statement from his lawyers indicates that they’re conducting their own investigations into the allegations - it read:
“We have been in contact with LA City Attorney’s Office and are currently conducting our own investigation into these allegations.”
