NASS Festival Returns This Weekend With Nas, Katy B, Hadouken & More - Tickets Still Available!

Wednesday, 10 July 2013 Written by Adam Holden

There are not many festivals in the UK that serve up the multitude of offerings that NASS provides, and it's surely the greatest extreme sports and music festival the UK has to offer.

Bringing festivals back from the fields to the concrete-urban jungle, NASS provides world-class competitions in skating, BMX and inline, while mixing it with the best electronic music and hip hop artists, including one of rap's greatest ever lyricists – NAS.

With his legendary status and following, the rapper is seen in many circles as being one of the best, and cut from the same cloth as Notorious B.I.G and Tupac Shakur. His album 'Illmatic' is still seen as one of the best hip hop albums of all time.

And with his arrival due on the main stage on Saturday evening, it will surely be the grandest performance the festival has ever seen.

Joining the New Yorker on the festival bill, will be one third of Magnetic Man, Benga, who seems relentless in attempts to play ubiquitously. Known for his heavy dubstep, he has been touring solo for a while now and will be hosting his own stage on the Saturday night. The dubstep powerhouse also has a successful radio show on 1Xtra with Skream, and both, joined by Artwork, are rumoured to be having another album out towards the end of year as they morph back into Magnetic Man. Fingers crossed we may see a few teasers from the album at NASS.

Elsewhere on the bill is Katy B, another who has found success from the beats and production of Magnetic Man, and will undoubtedly bring her customary party set to festival.

Other acts include Radio 1 disc jockey Zane Lowe, Hadouken, Shy FX, We are the Ocean and drum and bass veteran Andy C, who will kick start the festival headlining the Ram Records stage.

Of course the festival has more to offer than just music, and by day, punters can either get involved with some extreme sports, or simply sit and become a voyeur, and get mesmerised by the sheer balls and determination that the adrenaline thrill seekers indulge in trying to win big prizes and entertain the crowd.

This year, there are two intense days of sports action – Friday and Saturday. With £12,000 up for grabs in the BMX competitions, you can be sure to see the best action on display, with the strongest contingency of Australian riders in the history of NASS. Ryan Guettler, making his way from down under is one tipped as one to watch over the weekend, having recently landed the world's first 1080 barspin.

With a host of skaters and bladers also making up the incredible line-up, Shepton Mallet, Somerset will have never seen such an invasion of diverse talent. And with Nas headlining this year’s festival, this is sure to be the NASS to remember.
