Radiohead Banned By Chipotle

Friday, 12 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Music in restaurants can sometimes make or break a mood, but Chipotle have insisted that Radiohead are definitely not right for them, and have banned the band’s music from their being played at any of their branches.

According to an interview with Westword, Chipotle’s music playlist expert Christopher Golub has decided that Radiohead tunes don’t mesh well with the restaurant’s interior design - and that they don’t have the ‘texture of sound’ required to make it on the 'prestigious' 500-song Chipotle playlist.

He told the site:

“You know that if you go into a store, you've got the small, hard surfaces. You've got concrete floors, a lot of windows, hard walls and a lot of cooking gear and tile. So that doesn't work with certain songs. For example, the high, tenuous yowl of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke wreaks havoc with the steel and concrete of a Chipotle buildout.”

The Mexican diner has recently expanded and opened some places here in the UK, starting in London - how do you feel about the news? Leave us a comment in the box below!
