Jay-Z Ticket Demand Almost Equals Wife Beyonce

Wednesday, 17 July 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Ticket demand for Jay Z’s upcoming UK tour has surged following the rapper’s hit-packed Wireless performances, however, it has failed to top demand for Beyonce’s last tour, according to ticket marketplace Seatwave.

The New York rapper, whose career spans almost 20 years, will be playing six UK dates in support of his latest album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail', which reached Number 1 following his weekend performances. However, despite the rapper’s enduring popularity it seems his wife still tops him with regards to ticket demand.

Louise Mullock, spokesperson for Seatwave, said: “Jay Z is perhaps the biggest rapper of all time, his new album has proved to be a hit with fans and tickets to his latest tour are quickly being snapped up. Yet it seems that girls do indeed run the world with his wife Beyonce being the more popular of the two. Still, his electrifying Wireless performances proved what a showman he is and I have no doubt that his UK shows will further confirm his position as a hip-hop great and who knows we may even see a few guest appearances.”

Jay Z's tour kicks off at Manchester Arena on October 3. He will then play shows at Birmingham's NIA and the Dublin O2, before three nights at London's O2 to close proceedings. Tickets for the gigs are on presale now and on general sale at 9am on July 19.
