Bloc Party Insist There's 'No End Point' Ahead Of Hiatus

Sunday, 21 July 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Indie rock icons Bloc Party have reassured fans that there’s ‘no end point’ for the band, ahead of their impending hiatus.

The band headlined Latitude Festival on Friday night, and guitarist Russell Lissack had previously told Canadian paper The National Post that they’d be entering an indefinite hiatus right after - taking at ‘least six months’ off, and possibly even two years.

But, even though the band do have a five-track EP called ‘Nextwave Sessions’ on August 12, some fans were left fearing the worst after frontman Kele Okereke stated that it was ‘an emotional moment’ for them while performing onstage at the festival.

But bass-player Gordon Moakes has eased nerves ahead of their break from music. He told NME:

“I don't think any of us can really predict the future but we feel like we're more or less firing on all cylinders. It's been a long journey to get here. To see people are still with us.... There's still a crowd who want to see us play. It's a nice feeling, to go out after a year of touring.”

He continued on to say that there was "no end point" for them, and added that "ultimately we just love to make music - any excuse to do that is what sustains the band".
